Do skinny people make more money? Yes.
A study reported in the American Journal of Public Health (1)
indicates that the healthier you are, the wealthier you will become. They showed that healthier people are more productive
at work, earn more, and spend more days in the work force because they don't take as much sick leave.
A survey
was performed on 2068 women and 2314 men and income data from a taxation register. Regression analysis was used to calculate
mean income levels within these educational and occupational groups. The results were intriguing. Read more....
Obese women in upper white-collar positions or those with higher education had significantly lower incomes, compared to
their normal-weight counterparts. Overweight women with secondary education, as well as manual workers also reported
an income disadvantage. Too bad that there were no income disadvantages in men with regards to excess body weight (except
among the overly obese).
An analysis noted in the Journal of Socio-Economics (2) suggested that self-employed
obese women also receive strikingly lower income in customer-oriented jobs. Thereby, implicating that the pay difference
does not come from employer discrimination but from the general public's perception of obese women.
An investment
in health can bring big returns for individuals (especially women), their families, and the economy as a whole. Exercise and
healthy eating improve the blood flow to your brain. And if you want more money and more success, incorporate exercise and
a regular diet into your schedule.
Consider this question: What if you ate a very unhealthy lunch or snack
while sitting at your desk? What happens next? Did you feel fatigued, lazy about work and uninspired? Most likely
you did. But if you ate a healthy lunch and went for a walk afterwards, you would have come back revitalized, rejuvenated,
thinking positively, and thinking clearly.
Here are some interesting statistics:
(1) Fit people make more
money
(2) Fit people get better jobs
(3) Healthy people experience less stress
(4) People that are fit have
a more positive outlook on life
Therefore, if you want to earn more money, get a better job, have less stress and
a better outlook on life, then incorporate a "fitness" and "healthy diet" routine in your daily life.
